Craigrannoch Cottage is in Rockcliffe. It's a detached stone cottage next to my house, at the end of a quiet single-track road. The road goes into woods from one side. From the other, there's a gate straight into National Trust fields that lead down to the shore.
It sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. The rating is 4 Star. It's cosy. There's a woodburning stove. The garden is enclosed.
The beach is two minutes' walk. It's a mix of sand and rock pools. The water is safe for swimming. There's a boat ramp there too.
The coastal path starts right there. You can walk to Kippford one way, which has a marina and a couple of pubs, or to Sandyhills the other way. The views are very good. You're on the edge of the Galloway Forest, so you get the woods and the sea. The local walking is the main thing.
For bikes, you're on the edge of the 7Stanes trails. There's lockable storage here. A forest track from the door gets you onto the route.
Castle Douglas is about a 20-minute drive for shops and supermarkets. Kirkcudbright is about half an hour. It's an artists' town, quite pretty. Caerlaverock Castle and Threave Gardens are within a 30-minute drive.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, TV, WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. Parking for one car. We can provide a cot and highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
