Rose Cottage

Right, Rose Cottage. It's near Caulkerbush, in Dumfriesshire. It's down a private track, about a mile off the main road. It's next to our house and the farm, so it's quiet. Just us and the fields.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which is good. Everything works and it's clean. It's warm all year, we've got a biomass boiler so the heating is on whenever you want it.

You're on your own here. It's enclosed, so kids or a dog would be fine, but we don't take pets sorry. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV with channels, and WiFi. It all works. There's a woodburner too, and a BBQ outside.

You're in the middle of things for getting out. The Solway Coast is about ten minutes in the car. Dalbeattie Forest, for the mountain biking, is the same. The Galloway Forest Park is close, which is a Dark Sky Park if you're into that. There are a couple of golf courses ten minutes away, Colvend and Southerness.

Dumfries is about twenty-five minutes. That's where you'll find the big shops and the Robert Burns stuff if that's your interest. The RSPB Mersehead reserve is nearby if you like birdwatching. We get red kites and squirrels here on the farm too.

There's a shop, a pub, and a restaurant about six miles away in the village. You'll need to drive.
