Field Cottage is in Haugh of Urr. It’s detached, at the end of a farm track. The views over the fields are good. The garden is big.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms, one bathroom. It’s got a 4 Star rating. It’s comfortable and well-equipped, not just basic. There’s a woodburning stove. The WiFi is fine.
Castle Douglas is about a mile away. They call it a food town. There are good butchers and shops. A few nice places to eat. It’s a handy place to stock up.
The location is quiet. If you want beaches, the Solway Coast is about fifteen minutes in the car. The cliffs and sands are nice for a walk. For gardens, Threave Garden is nearby and worth a look.
For cycling or walking, you’re close to the Galloway Forest Park. It’s a Dark Sky Park, so if you’re into stargazing, it’s very good on a clear night. The 7 Stanes mountain biking trails are within a half hour drive.
Kirkcudbright is a pretty harbour town, about twenty minutes away. Nice for a wander. For a day with kids, Ernespie Farm Park is five minutes down the road.
Facilities: washing machine, dishwasher, TV, parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. No pets, sorry.
