Field Cottage
Field Cottage is ours. It's out past Haugh of Urr, right at the end of a farm track. It's a detached cottage. It's quiet. The view over the fields is really the main thing.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and everything works. It's warm. We've put in a woodburning stove, which is nice on an evening.
The garden is big. It's fully enclosed, which is good if you've got children or just want to sit outside without the dog running off. We don't allow pets, sorry.
You're about a mile and a half from Castle Douglas. They call it Scotland's food town. There are some good butchers and delis if you want to cook, and a few decent places to eat out. It’s a handy small town.
If you want to get out, you're in a good spot. The Solway Coast is about twenty minutes by car. There are some nice beaches and cliff walks there. Galloway Forest Park is maybe half an hour north. It’s a Dark Sky Park, so if it's clear at night, the stars are something else.
For gardens, Threave Gardens is close by. It's a National Trust for Scotland property. Kirkcudbright is a nice harbour town, about a twenty minute drive. It's good for a wander.
In terms of what's here, there's parking right outside. There's a washing machine, a dishwasher, WiFi, and satellite TV. All the bedding and towels are included.
