The Byre
The Byre is near Castle Douglas, about three miles out of town. It was a barn. We converted it. It’s detached, so it's just you and the fields.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. One bathroom is upstairs with the twin room, the other is on the ground floor. It's got a 5 Star rating. It's well-insulated and everything works properly.
The main room is all open plan. High ceiling, big doors out to the patio. You get the sun in the evening. It's a good spot to sit. The stairs have a glass panel. They're not steep, but if you have very small children, you might want to keep an eye.
The town has supermarkets, a few cafes, butchers, that sort of thing. It's a five minute drive. There's a local circular walk that goes from the door into town and back, about five miles. You're right on the edge of Galloway Forest. For mountain biking, the 7 Stanes trails at Dalbeattie and Kirroughtree are close.
The coast at places like Rockcliffe or Sandyhills is about twenty minutes by car. Threave Garden is nearby. If you want a proper day out, you can get to Dumfries in half an hour.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's bike storage, a BBQ, and parking right outside.
