Silver Dee is in Crossmichael, right by Loch Ken. It's a detached bungalow, so no one above or below you. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you have a dog or kids. You get a clear view of the loch from the front.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, one of which has a walk-in shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's all on one level, which makes it straightforward for getting around. The entrance and doorways are wheelchair accessible.
There's a local shop about 200 yards away and a pub and restaurant just down the road, about 150 yards. They're handy.
The main thing here is the loch. It's literally a couple of minutes' walk from the door. People come for the coarse fishing. There's a garage you can use to store your tackle, and it has a dedicated fridge and freezer for bait. You can hire boats or try water sports from the outdoor centre. We get a lot of red kites flying over the water.
If you want a change from the loch, Castle Douglas is two miles away. It's known as a food town with good local produce. Kirkcudbright is about seven miles; it's got an arts scene with galleries and museums. The coastline around here has some good sandy beaches and rocky bits to explore, about a half hour drive.
For walking or cycling, the 7Stanes trails at Dalbeattie are close, and the Galloway Forest Park is within half an hour. That's also a Dark Sky Park if you're into stargazing. There's a golf course three miles away.
Facilities: everything you'd expect really. Washing machine, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair. You can bring one dog. Parking for a couple of cars on the drive.
