Airdside Cottage
Airdside Cottage is on a farm just outside Crossmichael in Dumfriesshire. It's a three bedroom cottage that sleeps six, with one bathroom. There's a patio garden for you to use. The view from the cottage, and from the kitchen window, looks out over fields towards Loch Ken and the village. It's a calm spot.
It's a 3 Star place. That means it's clean, comfortable and has everything you need, but it's not high-end. The bathroom has both a bath and a walk-in shower. The hot tub is out on the patio.
You can bring two dogs. Bedding and towels are included, and there's a washing machine. Parking is right outside.
Crossmichael village is about a mile away. It has a pub that does food and a shop with a post office. Castle Douglas is five minutes by car. It's a proper market town with good butchers, cafes and independent shops.
Loch Ken is on your doorstep. You can fish or swim there. The Galloway Activity Centre is just along the road if you want to hire kit or try something. For walking, the Galloway Forest Park is about a half hour drive. It's a Dark Sky Park, so the stars are very clear here on a good night. The Solway Coast with its beaches is within 30 minutes.
If you've got younger children, Ernespie Farm Park is ten minutes away. For gardens, Threave Garden, which is National Trust for Scotland, is close by.
