Arkland Mill is on the Crofts Estate, near Corsock. It's a detached cottage with its own garden and a view over the stream.
It sleeps six in four bedrooms. There are three bathrooms, which is handy. It has a 4 Star rating. The main thing is it's comfortable and well-equipped.
You get a large garden to yourselves, with a summerhouse and your own little bridge over the stream. There's a woodburning stove for chilly evenings. The facilities list covers the main things: washing machine, dishwasher, TV, parking. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs.
The estate is about 3000 acres, so you can start walks right from the door. There are other cottages nearby but you have your own space.
For a shop or a pub, you'll need to drive about four miles. Castle Douglas is a good market town for food shopping, about 9 miles. Dumfries is 12 miles away for supermarkets, museums, and that sort of thing.
If you want to explore, Threave Garden is about 8 miles away. The Galloway Forest Park is a big area for walking and cycling, maybe a 20-minute drive. The Solway coast has beaches, like Rockcliffe or Sandyhills, within half an hour.
