It sleeps four people. There are three bedrooms and two bathrooms, and one of them is on the ground floor. It's got the four star rating, which means it's all been done up nicely.
You've got a woodburning stove for cooler evenings, and a dishwasher and washing machine. The WiFi is decent. There's a garden with a patio and a barbecue. The garden isn't fenced, so just something to know with kids.
In the village, there's a shop and pub a few minutes' walk away. For more, Castle Douglas is about a ten minute drive. They call it Scotland's food town, so there are good butchers, bakers, and places to eat.
If you're here for walking or cycling, it's a great spot. You're right near Mabie Forest for the mountain bike trails. The 7Stanes routes are all within a 30 minute drive. For a gentler walk, the paths at Caerlaverock Estate are good, and there's the castle there too.
Golfers might know Southerness, which is the championship course about twenty minutes away by car.
Dumfries is about fifteen minutes in the car for bigger shops or a cinema. The coast at Rockcliffe or Kippford is maybe twenty five minutes, if you fancy being by the water.
It's a quiet place. You'll hear birds and farm animals, not traffic.
