Stables Cottage is on the Crofts Estate, near Corsock. It's a one bedroom place for two people. You can bring one dog.
It's a converted stable. You get your own private bit, but it's part of a group of estate buildings. The views are good. You can see right out to the Solway Firth and over to the hills in Cumbria.
The inside is comfortable. There's a wood burning stove for colder nights. The bathroom has a shower, not a bath. The walls have some original artwork from Scottish artists.
You're right on the estate. There are walks starting from the door. The drive up to it is private and about a mile long.
The nearest village shop and pub are in Corsock, about four miles away. Castle Douglas is a bit further. It's a good town for food shops and butchers. Dumfries is about twelve miles. That's where you'll find the bigger supermarkets, a theatre, and a few museums.
For days out, Threave Gardens is about eight miles. It's National Trust. Threave Garden and Estate. The Galloway Forest Park is a big area for driving or walking. The coast and beaches along the Solway are about a thirty minute drive.
Included facilities: there's parking right outside, a washing machine, a TV, and a BBQ. We provide a cot and a highchair if you need them. All the bed linen is included.
