Marwhin House

Marwhin House is on a 3000-acre estate near Kirkpatrick Durham. It's detached, so it's on its own. You're up a private drive. The views are the main thing. You look out over the Galloway Hills towards the Solway Firth. On a clear day you can see the hills over in Cumbria.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. That's handy. It's got a 4 Star rating, so things are comfortable and in good order.

There's a stream and a pond in the garden. You can hear the water from the house. There's a patio and garden to yourselves, plus a barbecue. Inside, there's a woodburning stove for the cooler evenings. All the bedding and towels are provided. There's a washing machine, a TV, and parking.

You can bring one well-behaved dog. We provide a cot and a highchair if you need them.

The place is properly rural. There are other properties on the estate, but you've got your own space. The nearest village shop and pub are in Haugh of Urr, about four miles away. Castle Douglas, which has good shops and a food market, is about a 15-minute drive. Dumfries is 12 miles for bigger supermarkets, restaurants, and the theatre.

For things to do, you can walk straight out from the door onto estate trails. The Solway coast has good beaches. The Galloway Forest Park is about half an hour away for more serious walking and stargazing. The National Trust's Threave Gardens is about 20 minutes by car.
