Marwhin House Kirkpatrick Durham

Marwhin House is in Kirkpatrick Durham. It’s on the Crofts Estate, about 3000 acres. You get good views across the Solway Firth to the Cumbrian hills. It’s a detached house, so no neighbours attached. The drive up is private.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It has a 4 Star rating. It’s comfortable and well equipped. The place is decorated with original paintings by Scottish artists, which is a bit different.

The garden is yours. There’s a stream and a small pond at the bottom. We’ve provided a BBQ. There’s a wood burning stove in the living room, and we leave you some wood to get started. All bedding and towels are included. There’s a washing machine, a cot and a highchair if you need them. You can bring one dog.

There are other cottages on the estate, but Marwhin House stands on its own. Marwhin Cottage is about 25 yards away, but you each have your own privacy.

You can walk straight from the door onto estate paths, into woods and up into the Galloway Hills. A village shop and a pub are about four miles away.

Dumfries is 12 miles for bigger shops, places to eat, and museums. Castle Douglas is a market town known for good local food. The coast and beaches along the Solway are a short drive. Threave Gardens is about eight miles away. The Galloway Forest Park is good for dark skies and outdoor stuff. Within a half hour drive you’ve also got the Galloway Kite Trail and a few golf courses.
