Ardencaple No 2 is a ground-floor annexe on the edge of Castle Douglas. It's quiet here. You've got your own bit out the back, a little courtyard that gets the sun if it's out.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. They're a decent size. One bathroom. It's a 3 Star place, so it's clean and everything works, but it's not posh. Because it's all on the ground floor and has wide doors and grab rails, it suits people who find steps difficult.
You can walk into the town centre in a few minutes. Castle Douglas calls itself a 'Food Town' and it's got good butchers, bakers, that sort of thing. Plenty of places to eat and drink. There's a Co-op for groceries too.
The location is good for getting out. It's about a twenty-minute drive to the coast at places like Sandyhills or Rockcliffe. Nice beaches there. You're also right on the edge of the Galloway Forest Park. That's good for walking, and it's a Dark Sky Park, so if you get a clear night the stars are good.
For mountain bikers, the 7Stanes trails at Kirroughtree and Dalbeattie are close by. There's bicycle storage here if you bring your own.
In the cottage itself: there's a washing machine, TV, WiFi, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. You can bring up to two dogs. There's a BBQ in the courtyard.
