Trefoil Treat is on Kelton Hill, near Rhonehouse village. It’s a semi-detached cottage. We had it fully refurbished a couple of years ago.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms upstairs and one shower room. The stairs are a standard cottage staircase, so they turn a bit and have a handrail. There’s a stairgate at the bottom.
You come in through big wooden gates. There’s parking right there. The front door is step-free, which is handy.
Inside, it’s open plan downstairs: living room, dining area, and a galley kitchen. The kitchen has a dishwasher and washing machine. Everything you need is there. Upstairs, the landing is quite big with a chair. It’s a good spot to sit and look out the window over the fields.
The garden is enclosed. It’s got a patio area with a table.
The village is quiet. Castle Douglas is about two miles away. It’s a proper market town with good butchers, bakeries, and some nice places to eat. You can walk there on quiet lanes if you want. You’ll pass Threave Garden, which is worth a visit.
You’re well placed here. The coast with beaches is about twenty minutes’ drive. Galloway Forest Park is close, which is good for walking and star-gazing. For mountain biking, the 7Stanes trails at Dalbeattie and Mabie are within half an hour.
Kirkcudbright is a nice harbour town, about a twenty-minute drive. You can walk around the harbour and see the fishing boats.
Facilities: all bedding and towels are included. There’s WiFi and a TV. There’s local fishing and a few golf courses nearby. You can bring one dog.
