Kirkcudbright is a proper harbour town. There's always something going on down at the water. It's known as an artists' town, and you'll see galleries and studios around the place. Broughton House is worth a look if you're interested in that sort of thing.
You're right on the edge of Galloway Forest Park, which is good for walking. It's also a Dark Sky Park, so if you get a clear night, the stars are very good. The Forestry and Land Scotland site has maps.
For the coast, you can drive out to places like Sandyhills Bay or Rockcliffe, both within half an hour. Threave Garden is about a twenty minute drive inland.
In the flat, there's a dishwasher and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's no dedicated parking, but you can usually find space on the street nearby. No pets.
