This is the house on High Street, in Kirkcudbright. It's a big, old townhouse, right in the middle of things. You park at the back.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a Five Star rating, which means everything's in good order and it's comfortable. It's all on one level once you're inside, which is good if stairs are a problem. The doors are standard width and there's a walk-in shower.
The kitchen is a good size, with a table for everyone. There's a dishwasher and washing machine. Through the French doors there's a big conservatory with a wood burner. It looks out over the garden, which is enclosed. You get the whole garden to yourselves.
You're right in the town. There's a shop about three minutes' walk away. The pub is literally next door. They serve food. A restaurant is about a hundred yards away.
The harbour and the high street are just a short stroll down the road. The town is known for artists. Broughton House, which was an artist's home, is now run by the National Trust for Scotland and is worth a look.
The coast is about three and a half miles for a proper beach. For walking, you've got coastal paths and the Galloway Forest Park about a twenty minute drive. It's a Dark Sky Park, so the stars are good on a clear night. There's also cycling at the 7Stanes trails.
Golf is nearby. Threave Gardens are about a fifteen minute drive if you like that sort of thing.
Facilities: bedding and towels are included. There's a cot, highchair, and stairgate if you need them. You can bring two dogs. There's bike storage. WiFi is included.
