Heron View is one of three cottages here at High Kirkland, near Kirkcudbright. It's a single-storey cottage, so all on the ground floor. Sleeps five in two bedrooms, and has one bathroom.
The main room is open plan. Kitchen and dining area at one end, living room with a wood burner at the other. Big windows look out over the fields towards the Galloway Hills. Outside, there's a private patio with a hot tub. The view from there is the same.
It's quiet here. You're down a farm track, surrounded by fields. The town is about a twenty minute walk, maybe a bit less if you're quick. Kirkcudbright has the harbour, some shops, cafes, and a few places to eat. There's a castle ruin in the middle of town, MacLellan's Castle, which is worth a look.
If you want to get out, you're well placed for the coast. The beach at Ross Bay is about fifteen minutes by car. For a bigger day out, the Galloway Forest Park is about half an hour's drive. Good for walking and stargazing. Dumfries is around forty minutes.
Things here: wood burner, dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, TV. Parking right outside. There's an electric vehicle charger. We allow one well-behaved dog. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair if you need them.
If you're coming with a bigger group, the other two cottages next door, Robin's Nest and The Byre, can be booked together with this one.
