The Byre is one of three cottages on our farm, about a mile outside Kirkcudbright. It's detached and you get your own bit of garden. The main thing is the view. It looks straight out over the fields to the Galloway Hills.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's well-equipped and comfortable. It's all on one level, which is handy. The kitchen has what you need, including a dishwasher and washing machine.
It's very quiet here. You'll hear the birds and not much else. Kirkcudbright is about a twenty minute walk down the lane. It's a proper little town with a harbour, some good cafes and pubs, and a few shops. The ruins of MacLellan's Castle are right in the middle of it. They call it the Artist's Town.
From here, you're well-placed for the coast. The Solway coast is about a fifteen minute drive. There's good walking inland as well, up into the Galloway Forest Park. Castle Douglas is about twenty minutes away if you need a bigger supermarket.
In terms of stuff, it's got a TV, WiFi, an electric vehicle charger, and parking right outside. We can provide a cot and highchair. It says coastal accessible and has grab rails, so it might suit someone with mobility needs, but best to ask us specifics.
You can bring one dog. There are two other cottages here, Robin’s Nest and Heron View, if you were coming with a bigger group.
