Little Boreland

Little Boreland is near Gatehouse of Fleet in Dumfriesshire. It's a detached cottage on a hillside, with its own garden and bit of woodland. The setting is good for wildlife. You can walk straight from the door into the woods or down to the town.

It sleeps five people. There are five bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. The place has character but it's not a new build. The stairs are narrow and steep in places, which is fairly typical.

Gatehouse of Fleet is about half a mile down the hill. It's a small conservation town with shops, cafes, a couple of restaurants, and the Mill on the Fleet visitor centre. There's a local pub too.

The coast is about four miles away. There are sandy beaches and rocky bits. For walking, you're right on the edge of the Fleet Valley National Scenic Area. The Galloway Forest Park is about a 20 minute drive. It's a Dark Sky Park, good for stargazing. There are cycle paths there too.

Within half an hour's drive you can get to Cardoness Castle, which is very close. Threave Castle and Gardens are near Castle Douglas. Kirkcudbright is known for artists and has boat trips. Castle Douglas has good food shops. If you have children, the Red Kite feeding station at Laurieston is about 25 minutes away.

The house has a woodburning stove, wifi, a TV, and a dishwasher. There's a washing machine, parking, and a patio with a barbecue. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets allowed.
