High Auchenlarie is a detached cottage on a hill just outside Kirkdale. It's got those views you see in the pictures, all the way over Wigtown Bay.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, four bathrooms, which helps with a full house. Two bedrooms are on the ground floor. It's a 4 Star place, so it's been done up inside. The kitchen is modern and has everything you'd need, including a dishwasher and washing machine.
The sun room is good for sitting in. The living room has a wood burner for cooler evenings.
The garden is enclosed, which is handy for a dog. You can bring one pet.
It's a quiet, rural spot. For a shop or a pub, you'd need to drive. Gatehouse of Fleet is about six miles away. It has a couple of small shops and some good cafes. The new restaurant up the road, Gather at Laggan, is only a couple of miles and does interesting food with great views.
The coast is easy to get to. There are sandy beaches. You can fish locally. Walking is straight from the door or you can drive into the Galloway Forest Park for more. The Galloway Forest Park is good for cycling and stargazing.
Kirkcudbright is a nice harbour town. For kids, there's the Cocoabean Chocolate Factory near Castle Douglas or the Dark Space Planetarium in Kirkcudbright.
Facilities are all included: parking, bedding, towels, WiFi, and TV.
