The Cider House is on our farm, just outside Mitcheldean. It's a detached stone cottage we've just finished doing up. It looks out over the fields and the hills of the Forest of Dean.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped, but it's not overly fancy. One bedroom is on the ground floor, which is handy. The main bedroom upstairs has its own bath. The stairs are fine, just normal cottage stairs.
You've got your own garden out the back with a table and chairs. The view from there is good, especially in the evening.
It's a working farm, so you'll see and hear farm things. Tractors in the morning, sheep in the fields. There's a local pub about a ten-minute walk away. It does food.
You're right on the edge of the Forest of Dean. For walking and cycling, you can just head straight out from the door. The Forest of Dean website has trail maps. Puzzlewood is about a 20-minute drive. It's an odd, ancient woodland, good for an hour's wander. Symonds Yat is the same sort of distance, for the view over the river.
For a day out, Tintern Abbey is about 25 minutes by car. Ross-on-Wye and Monmouth are nice market towns, both within half an hour. Goodrich Castle is close by too. The National Trust has information on a lot of the local sites.
Inside, there's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV with internet, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right by the cottage. We allow up to two dogs.
