Marshalls Farm
Marshalls Farm is a detached cottage near Newent, in Gloucestershire. You get to it down a private track off a lane. It sits in the middle of about ten acres of farmland, so it's quiet. The views are good, just fields and trees.
It sleeps five people. There are three bedrooms and one bathroom with a shower. The rating is 4 Star. It's comfortable and well looked after. We allow one well-behaved dog.
Outside, there's a patio and garden area for you to use. It's all quite open. Inside, there's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings, a TV, wifi, and a washing machine. All bedding and towels are included. You can park right by the cottage.
The location is good for getting around. You're only a few minutes from the M50, but it doesn't feel like it. Newent is about three miles away. It's a nice little town with shops and a couple of supermarkets. The nearest pub that does food is about a mile and a half away.
You're on the edge of the Forest of Dean. For walking, May Hill is about ten minutes by car. You can see for miles from the top. For a proper day out, the Wye Valley is close. Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty has walking and cycling routes. Canoeing on the River Wye is popular. Tintern Abbey is about half an hour's drive.
If you want to go further, Gloucester is about ten miles for the cathedral and docks. Cheltenham is roughly half an hour away for shopping or the races. The Malvern Hills are also within easy reach.
If you're interested in local history or walking, the Forest of Dean site is useful. Horse riding can be arranged nearby if you book in advance.
