The School Room is in Dymock. It’s a detached building that used to be the village schoolhouse. It’s old, from 1825, and it’s Grade II listed. That means it looks the part, but there are rules about things like open fires.
It’s got a big open living space downstairs. The ceiling is very high with big oak beams. There’s a large arched window that lets in a lot of light. There’s a wood burner for cool evenings. The kitchen is off the living room and has what you’d need.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both doubles. The main bedroom is on the ground floor. It has a very large bed and an ensuite bathroom with a bath and shower. The second bedroom is up a spiral staircase, and it overlooks the living room. There’s also a separate shower room on the ground floor. It’s not suitable for babies or young children. Only children over 12.
Outside, you have your own private area called the Folly, for sitting and eating. It looks over the owner's garden. You can’t have a barbecue or an open fire out there because of the listing.
There’s a community pub a very short walk away. They do food. The village is rural and quiet.
For things to do, you’re well placed. There’s good walking from the door, like the Daffodil Way footpath. You’re between two Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Malvern Hills are about 20 minutes by car. The Forest of Dean is about 30 minutes, which has cycling, walking, and the River Wye for canoeing. Ledbury is a nice town nearby with proper shops. Cheltenham is about 40 minutes if you want a bigger town or the racecourse.
Facilities: it’s got a 4 Star rating. There’s parking, WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. No pets.
