The Farmhouse is in a hamlet just outside Newent. It's a proper place with old beams and wooden doors. It sleeps ten in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms.
It's got a two star rating. That means it's comfortable but quite basic. The floors are original and a bit uneven in places. You'll know you're in an old house.
The main thing is the space outside. There's a private garden and your own outdoor swimming pool, which you don't see often. The pool has a small poolside bar with a sink and fridge. There's also a hard tennis court on the grounds. You can get to the town on foot along the brook, it's about a mile.
Newent itself is a small market town. There's a Co-op and a few pubs that do food. The Forest of Dean is right on the doorstep for walking and cycling.
Gloucester is about a twenty minute drive. The cathedral is impressive and the docks are worth a look. Cheltenham is about half an hour away for the races or shopping.
For days out, the Forest of Dean website has walking trails. The National Trust has a few properties nearby like Croome and Westbury Court Garden.
Inside, there's a washing machine, dishwasher, and cot and highchair if needed. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is on the drive. No pets, sorry.
