Pottles Retreat is in Surlingham, which is on the River Yare about seven miles southeast of Norwich. It's a timber lodge set in our garden. It's well-insulated and has central heating, so it's comfortable any time of year.
It sleeps two. One bedroom with a double bed, one bathroom with a shower. It's a 4 Star place, so it's got everything you need and it's in good order. You look out over open fields. There's no light pollution, so the stars are very clear on a good night.
There's a fenced-off private area around the lodge with a gate, so it's secluded. You've got a bit of lawn and a bistro table and chairs outside. Inside, it's open plan with a small kitchen and a breakfast bar. There's a smart TV you can watch from the sofa or the bed. WiFi is included.
The village pub is about a ten-minute walk away, down by the river. They do good food. There's also a patisserie in the village. For a supermarket, you'll need to drive to Loddon or maybe into Norwich, which is about a 15-minute drive.
You're right on the edge of the Broads. Surlingham Church Marsh is a Norfolk Wildlife Trust reserve with walking trails. The Wherryman's Way walking path runs along the river here. For more of a park, Whitlingham Country Park is about a 15-minute drive. They have a large lake and you can hire kayaks or paddleboards.
If you want the coast, it's about a 40-minute drive to beaches like Winterton or Sea Palling. Great Yarmouth is the same sort of distance if you want the classic seaside things.
Parking is on site. Bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome. If you're coming with more people, you can book the cottage next door as well.
