Swallowtail Lodge is in Strumpshaw, near Brundall. It's a detached lodge in our garden. You look out over a lake and a field of reeds.
It sleeps two. One bedroom, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's all on the ground floor and the doorways are wide, so it suits people who find stairs difficult. We've kept it fairly simple inside.
The main thing is the setting. We get a lot of wildlife here, birds and butterflies mainly. Sometimes you'll see deer or an otter. You can fish in the lake, but you'll be sharing it with the swans and ducks. There's a private veranda and a summer house you can use.
The garden is shared with us. We're often out there doing bits of maintenance. We also have a dog, Alfie. He's friendly and he has the run of the place too.
You're right in the Norfolk Broads. The RSPB reserve at Strumpshaw Fen is on the doorstep. Brundall is a few minutes down the road if you want to hire a day boat. Norwich is about six miles away for shops and the cathedral.
For places to eat, there are a few pubs nearby with riverside gardens. They're a short drive.
Within half an hour you can be on the coast at Great Yarmouth, or take the Bure Valley steam train from Aylsham. The National Trust for the Norfolk Broads site has good information. So does Visit Norfolk.
Facilities: your own parking, WiFi, TV, bedding and towels included. One well-behaved dog is welcome.
