The Yard Beach Retreat is a small, detached cottage in Aberdesach. It’s just for two people. You get a sea view and the pebble beach is a couple of minutes’ walk down the lane.
It’s got a 4 Star rating. Inside it’s one bedroom and one bathroom with a shower. It’s clean and comfortable. There’s a woodburning stove for the evenings, which is nice. The garden is a shared courtyard style, so other guests from the other cottages might walk through it to get to theirs.
The owner has a dog that sometimes walks past the garden too. Just so you know.
Aberdesach is quiet. There’s no shop in the village itself. For a supermarket or a pub, you’ll need to drive. Penygroes is about four miles away for basics. The main road along the coast is right there, so it’s easy to get to other places.
Dinas Dinlle beach is a short drive south. It’s sandier and has a cafe. For a big day out, Caernarfon Castle is about fifteen minutes by car. It’s a Cadw site and worth seeing.
You’re right on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. Llanberis is about twenty-five minutes drive. You can get the mountain railway up Snowdon from there, but you need to book tickets well ahead. They also hire kayaks on the lake.
Places like Pwllheli, Criccieth, and the Welsh Highland Railway in Porthmadog are all within half an hour.
Facilities include the woodburner, WiFi, TV, and parking. All bedding and towels are provided. No pets allowed, I’m afraid.
