Orchard House is on Hole Farm, near Hempstead in Norfolk. The farm's won awards for its conservation work, planting lots of trees and hedges. The house is detached. It sleeps six, across four bedrooms, and has two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating.
The place is a mix of old and new furniture, and there are some nice touches. It's not a show home, it's a lived-in house in a farmyard.
You have a private garden with a patio. Being on a farm, you'll see tractors and activity sometimes, but it's generally quiet. The views across the fields are good.
There's a shared outdoor heated swimming pool here, only open seasonally. The pool used to be part of the old cattle yard. There's also a shared tennis court you can use.
The facilities are what you'd hope for: a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are included. We can take one well-behaved dog.
There's a pub that does food about a mile away. The nearest shop is in Holt, about three miles.
The coast is about a 15-minute drive. Places like Blakeney and Cley-next-the-sea are good for walks and birdwatching. Cromer's a classic seaside town with a pier. For a big beach, Holkham is excellent.
Blickling Hall is very close, maybe 15 minutes by car. The National Trust in Norfolk has details for that and other places like Sheringham Park. For information on the wider area, the Visit Norfolk site is useful.
Further afield, you've got the Broads about 40 minutes away, or Norwich for a city day out.
