Bwthyn Meillion

Bwthyn Meillion is a single storey cottage up on the hillside in Penmachno. There are two others next to it. It looks out over the Machno Valley, which is just fields and forest. The view is good.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It’s a 4 Star, so it’s comfortable and well equipped. Everything is on the ground floor and the doors are wide, so it’s suitable for a wheelchair or someone who doesn’t want steps. There’s an electric vehicle charger on the drive.

You can walk straight from the front door into the Gwydyr Forest. The Penmachno mountain bike trails start right there too. If you’ve brought bikes, there’s storage.

The village pub is walking distance. It serves food. There’s a shop too. Betws-y-Coed is about a ten minute drive. That’s where you’ll find more places to eat, and a few shops.

You can drive to Blaenau Ffestiniog in under half an hour. They’ve got the big zip wires and Bounce Below, which is the underground trampoline place in the old mines. Yr Wyddfa – Snowdon – is about 25 minutes away if you want to climb it, or you can get the train from Llanberis. The coast at Conwy, with the castle, is maybe 20 minutes. Bodnant Garden is about the same.

Inside, it’s open plan. There’s a woodburning stove for cooler nights, a TV, WiFi, and a patio with a BBQ. Bedding and towels are included. There’s a cot if you need one. Parking is right outside.
