Cae'r Elen

Cae'r Elen is in Dolwyddelan. It's a good spot because you're right in the middle of the mountains but you're not completely cut off. The cottage is detached.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable. The kitchen has everything. The wood burner works well if it gets cold.

There's a conservatory on the back with a sofa looking into the garden. It's a good room to sit in when the weather's iffy. The garden is enclosed.

The village shop is a few minutes walk. It's small but it has the basics. For a bigger shop, you'd drive to Betws-y-Coed.

For walking, it's very good. Moel Siabod is basically right there. The path to Yr Wyddfa - Snowdon - starts a couple of miles down the road at Pont Cyfyng. You can park at the cafe.

Betws-y-Coed is about six miles east. It's a busy village with shops, cafes, and a golf course. Blaenau Ffestiniog is about the same distance west. That's where Zip World is.

The mountain bike trails at Coed y Brenin are about half an hour's drive. So is Surf Snowdonia if you fancy that. The coast around Conwy is a bit further, maybe forty minutes. The castle is worth seeing.

Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking for two cars. Bedding and towels are included. There's a highchair and a stairgate if you need them.

A few links that might help: Snowdonia National Park, National Trust Wales, and Cadw for the castles.
