Cartref is in Pont Cyfyng, North Wales. It's on the old A5 road, about halfway between Betws-y-Coed and Capel Curig. It's a big, detached Victorian house that used to be the vicarage. We've tried to keep as much of the original feel as we could while updating it.

It sleeps eight, across four bedrooms. There are three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. There's a wood burner in the living room, which makes it really cosy in the evening. One of the beds is an old highgate style. It's unusual, but comfortable.

The garden at the back is up a slope. It looks out over the fields and towards the mountains. You get a good view from up there.

The local pub is about five minutes walk. It serves food. There's a shop in Capel Curig, about a mile away.

For walking, you're right in the middle of it. The paths up Snowdon, like the Llanberis and Miners' tracks, start close by. Betws-y-Coed is a ten minute drive. It's a proper little village with cafes, places to eat, and a toy steam railway.

You can drive to Conwy in under half an hour. It's got the castle and a nice marina. Bodnant Garden is about 40 minutes away. Beddgelert is maybe 20 minutes, good for walking and the Gelert's Grave story. Portmeirion, which is really different, is just over an hour.

The Lleyn Peninsula has good beaches, like Abersoch. They're about an hour's drive if the traffic is okay.

For facilities: there's parking, a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. A cot and highchair are there if you need them. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs.

Useful links: Snowdonia National Park and National Trust Wales. You'll need to check their sites for opening times and to book parking if you're planning to walk up Snowdon.
