River View Cottage is a bungalow in Tweedmouth, just over the bridge from Berwick upon Tweed. It's modern, built a few years ago. The main thing is the view, which is straight out over the River Tweed. You can see it from the living room and the main bedroom.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms, both with double beds. There's one bathroom with a good shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's well-finished and has everything you'd need. It's all on one level, so no stairs to worry about.
The space is open plan: kitchen, dining and living area together. It has a dishwasher, washing machine, and good WiFi. The heating is electric, including one of those electric wood-burner effect stoves. We allow up to two dogs.
Berwick is about a fifteen minute walk. You can walk the Elizabethan walls, which is a good way to see the town. English Heritage has details on the walls. The Maltings theatre is there if you fancy a film or a show. Spittal Beach is a short drive or a decent walk.
For a day out, Holy Island is about a half hour drive. You must check the tide times for the causeway. Bamburgh Castle and Seahouses are in that direction too, maybe forty minutes. Alnwick Castle and gardens are about forty-five minutes south. The Northumberland Coast is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and there's a lot of information on their site for walks.
Locally, there's a pub in Tweedmouth, and fishing and horse riding are available nearby. The property is decorated for Christmas if you're booking over that period.
