Upper Sandstell Point
Upper Sandstell Point is in Spittal, at the north end of Berwick-upon-Tweed. It sits right on the promenade next to the beach. You look straight across the estuary from the big, front window. On a clear day, you can see Holy Island.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower. They've given it a 4 Star rating now, which I think reflects some good accessibility features. It has a level entrance and the living area is open plan.
So the front garden is a sloped lawn. It's got outdoor furniture. It's very sunny, but you are on the promenade, so people do walk past.
The place is very light inside because of that window. The view is the point of it. The furnishings are comfortable but not fussy.
You're about a hundred yards from the sandy beach at Spittal. For a pint, the pub is a short walk up the road. Berwick town centre is a couple of miles away. You can walk it along the promenade or get the bus. It's got the historic ramparts, shops, a few restaurants. The train station is there too, with links up to Edinburgh and down to Newcastle.
If you're driving out, the coast here is all part of the Northumberland Coast Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Holy Island is about twenty minutes away, but check the tide times. Further down the coast, Seahouses is maybe forty minutes. You can get boat trips to the Farne Islands from there to see the puffins and seals.
What's in the cottage: WiFi, TV, a dishwasher, a washing machine. There is bicycle storage. Bedding and towels are all included. Parking for one car right outside.
