No. 2 Ness Street

This is No. 2 Ness Street. It's in Berwick-upon-Tweed, right in the middle of town. The front door opens straight onto the pavement.

The house sleeps six. Three bedrooms, all kingsize. Each bedroom has its own bathroom or shower room, which is handy. One's on the ground floor, one's on the first, and one's in the attic. The attic stairs are a bit steep, so watch your head.

It's a tall, thin house. The sitting room with the wood burner is on the first floor. The kitchen is on the ground floor at the back. There's a small enclosed patio out there. You get a permit for free on-street parking right outside.

It's a 4 Star place. It's been done up nicely. Everything's clean and works. You've got a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and Sky TV.

You're a few minutes' walk from the river and the old town walls. The mainline train station is about a 15 minute walk. You can get to Edinburgh or Newcastle in just over an hour.

There are a couple of pubs very close by, and lots of cafes. The nearest beach is at the mouth of the river, about a 20 minute walk. It's more of a stony harbour beach there. For the big sandy beaches, you need to drive.

If you drive north up the coast, you're on that amazing stretch with the castles. Bamburgh is about 40 minutes. Holy Island is about 20, but you must check the tide times for the causeway. Alnwick Castle and its gardens are about half an hour south.

For planning walks or days out, these sites are useful: Northumberland National Park, Northumberland Coast AONB, and English Heritage for the castles.

You can bring one well-behaved dog. All bedding and towels are included.
