The Garden Apartment
The Garden Apartment is in a wing of Paxton House, near Berwick-upon-Tweed. It sleeps two, in one bedroom, but there's a sofa bed if you need it. It has a 4 Star rating.
You get the grounds to yourselves when the house is closed. It's peaceful. The view from the main rooms is south over the lawns to the river.
The place was servants' quarters originally, so the layout is a bit different. It's all on one level. High ceilings. The kitchen, dining and sitting area are open plan.
There's one bathroom with a bath and a shower attachment. On-site parking is right outside.
You get a discount for a tour of Paxton House itself. The tearoom on the estate is good for cake. There's a pub about a mile away in the village.
Berwick-upon-Tweed is ten minutes by car. Nice for a walk round the walls and by the river. The Northumberland coast is about twenty minutes away. Bamburgh Castle is half an hour. Edinburgh is just over an hour if you fancy a city day.
Facilities: TV, dishwasher, parking, bedding and towels are included. Up to two pets are welcome. There's a cot and highchair if needed.
