Maines Farm Cottage

Maines Farm Cottage is near Chirnside, in the Scottish Borders. It's a single-storey cottage, which they call a 'but and ben', attached to the main farmhouse. You get your own front door and a private garden.

It sleeps four. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms. One bathroom is upstairs, the other is a shower room downstairs by the back door, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean.

The cottage looks out over fields. There are usually donkeys in the next field. You get a lot of birds and wildlife around.

There's a hotel a few minutes' walk away if you want a meal out. The village of Chirnside has a shop and a fish and chip shop. For a pub, you'd drive to one of the nearby towns like Duns or Coldstream, which is about ten minutes.

St Abbs Head is about a 20-minute drive. It's a national nature reserve with great cliffs and birdwatching. The beach at Coldingham Bay is good too. The coast is all rocky and dramatic round here.

Berwick-upon-Tweed is about 15 minutes south, over the border. It's a walled town with a river and shops. Edinburgh is an hour by car if you fancy a city day. There's a train station at Reston, the next village.

Facilities: there's a wood burner, a washing machine, a dishwasher, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. There's parking right outside. No pets, sorry.
