Three Decks

It's called Three Decks. An art deco place built in the 1930s on the Elmer Sands estate, just outside Bognor. The story is it was built for a sea captain, which explains the shape, like an ocean liner.

It sleeps eight, four bedrooms. There are three bathrooms, which is handy with a few of you. It's got a 5 Star rating so everything is in good order.

You come in on the ground floor. There's a big kitchen and living area that looks out the back garden, plus a utility room and a double bedroom with an en-suite shower. That room is good if someone doesn't want to do stairs.

Upstairs on the first floor are the other three bedrooms. Two have en-suites, and there's a family bathroom as well. That floor has a big balcony.

Then there's another flight of stairs up to the top floor, which is just a living room. It's got windows all round and a balcony you can walk right around. The view is the main thing. You can see the sea, the rocks, and on a clear day you can look west towards the Isle of Wight and east towards Beachy Head.

The garden at the back is enclosed, so it's safe for kids and dogs. You get parking for four cars on the drive.

The beach is a couple of minutes' walk. It's dog friendly all year. It's sand and rock pools, and when the tide's out it goes flat and shallow, which is good for paddling and swimming. You can walk along the shore to Elmer or Middleton-on-Sea. Both have a pub and a shop.

Bognor Regis and Littlehampton are a short drive if you need a bigger supermarket or more shops. There's a train from Bognor to Brighton if you fancy that.

For days out, Chichester is about twenty minutes. The cathedral is worth a look. Arundel with its castle is maybe half an hour. Goodwood is up that way too, for the Festival of Speed or the Revival. Portsmouth, for the Historic Dockyard and Spinnaker Tower, is about forty minutes' drive.

Facilities wise: it's got a hot tub in the garden, a BBQ, dishwasher, washing machine, Wi-Fi, TVs. Bedding and towels are included. It's pet friendly, up to two dogs. Parking on site. They do it up for Christmas if you're booking then.

If you're planning trips, the National Trust and National Landscape sites are useful: National Trust Sussex and South Downs National Park.
