Within the estate are over 30 miles of rights of way to explore. Included within this is Stane Street, the Roman road linking London with Chichester offering a picturesque walk through the woods. Also nearby is Denman Gardens - the former home and garden of the late John Brookes MBE one of Britain’s most influential landscape designers.
Foxwood Cottage is in the perfect location for the premier motorsport events at Goodwood just a ten-minute drive, taking in some of the most beautiful country roads over the Downs. For classically British pastimes the famous Goodwood Estate offers a range of activities including a championship golf course, the motor circuit racecourse and aerodrome. It offers an exciting calendar of events throughout the year. Glorious Goodwood Fontwell Park is only a mile away - a unique figure of eight track and a jewel of West Sussex horse racing. Arundel, 5 miles, is a historic market town dominated by the castle and the cathedral spire. It offers a plethora of craft and antique shops, restaurants and tea rooms. Arundel Castle has been the seat of the Dukes of Norfolk for over 850 years and is set in 40 acres of sweeping grounds and gardens. The Keep dates back to the 11th century and climbing its 131 steps is definitely worth the effort to take in the views. Chichester, also 5 miles, is the small cathedral city of Sussex. This ancient city is steeped in history including the cathedral and the preserved Roman walls. A wealth of listed buildings edge the streets including independent and high street shops, pubs and restaurants. Chichester is full of culture with the Festival Theatre, art galleries and museums. The beaches at Climping and Bognor Regis are around 7 miles away. Climping is a beautiful unspoilt beach of Special Scientific Interest. At its eastern end beside the mouth of the River Arun in Littlehampton the West Beach cafe was built by local craftsmen using materials sourced locally.
