With its own enclosed courtyard garden, this is a quiet and peaceful holiday home. It was formerly an old coach house that has been stylishly refurbished whilst retaining much of the original period features. Downstairs the cottage has a lovely open plan living space with oak flooring, reclining sofa and a Smart TV. It offers a private enclosed sitting-out area with outdoor table, chairs and covered seating. Upstairs in the eaves, with countryside side views, is a carpeted bedroom with lower level kingsize bed .
The Coach House is situated in the idyllic village of Shamley Green; just 5 minutes’ walk from the property are two pubs, a village shop, a café, a church, a cricket green and a duck pond. If you fancy a night off from cooking, both pubs serve delicious food. There is also a wood-fired pizza van that comes to the village green on Wednesdays and a fish and chip/burger van that comes on Fridays from about 4pm-9pm.
Shamley Productions was an American production company, set up by Alfred Hitchcock and named after the British village of Shamley Green, where the Hitchcocks owned a country retreat in the 1930s. With easy and convenient access to the A3, Guildford and London are not far away. Guildford, the county town of Surrey, is situated 6 miles away on the banks of the River Wey. With its castle, cathedral, markets, university, world-class sports facilities and great entertainment, shopping, bars and restaurants, Guildford is well worth a visit. Just a short drive away is Godalming, an ancient market and coaching town delightfully situated on the picturesque River Wey, where to this day cattle graze on the waterside meadows and canal boats rest up against the wharf.
