Coastguard Cottage

This is Coastguard Cottage in Chapel St Leonards. It's a proper old coastguard's place, about 200 yards from the beach. You go out the gate and you're pretty much straight onto the sand dunes.

It sleeps six. Three bedrooms: one with a kingsize bed, one double, and one with bunks. There's one family bathroom with a shower over the bath. It's a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after.

The stairs are steep. They're the original cottage stairs. We've put in a stairgate because of it.

The garden is fully enclosed. It's a good size, so it's safe for kids or if you're bringing dogs. Speaking of which, you can bring up to two pets. There's parking right there at the house.

You're right in the village. There's a shop, a couple of pubs that do food, and a few restaurants about 200 yards away. The beach is the main thing though. It's sandy and it goes on for miles.

Just down the coast at Chapel Point there's a cafe called the Seascape Observatory. Good spot to watch the sunrise. Skegness is a short drive or bus ride away if you want the arcades and Fantasy Island. Butlin's is there too.

Facilities wise: everything's included. Bedding, towels, WiFi, TV. There's a washing machine, a cot and a highchair. The entrance is wheelchair accessible, but the stairs inside are steep, so the rest of the house isn't.

If you're planning to explore the area, the Lincolnshire Coast and Countryside site has good information. For longer heritage days out, National Trust Lincolnshire lists their properties.
