Outside you will find an enclosed garden, which also offers a seating area where you can enjoy a morning coffee or even a glass of something in the evening as you plan the next few days’ excursions.
The cottage lies close to Matlock and the vibrant spa town of Matlock Bath. The area is famous for its connections with Sir Richard Arkwright and the cotton trade, and is often referred to as the cradle of the Industrial Revolution. Today you will find plenty of shops, coffee shops and restaurants to enjoy, as well as the converted mill and canal to enjoy. The area boasts an abundance of attractions such as Gulliver’s Kingdom and the nearby Peak District Mining Museum. Visitors are able to take a cable car ride to the top of the Heights of Abraham to enjoy the magnificent views! The area offers plentiful walking opportunity for all levels around the Derwent Valley and the White Peaks, as well as rock climbing and traffic-free cycle routes aplenty.
Chatsworth House, with its wonderful stately home and gardens is nearby to explore, as are Haddon Hall and Hardwick Hall. A trip here would not be complete without a visit to the nearby market town of Bakewell to sample a wonderful pudding! Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
