Chancer

It's called Chancer. It's a little coach house, part of a bigger estate on a working farm. The owners live in the main house nearby, but you get your own space. It's near Trereife, which is just outside Penzance.

It's one big space really. You come in and the living area, kitchen, and kingsize bed are all in one room. Then there's a separate shower room. Up a spiral staircase, there's a mezzanine level with two single beds. So it sleeps four, but it's a bit cosy. Good for a family or a couple, not so good if two couples want privacy.

Because it's an old building, the WiFi can be a bit weak in places. The phone signal depends on your network. It's Cornwall, that's how it is. The spiral stairs up to the mezzanine are quite tight and steep. Fine for older kids, maybe not for toddlers.

It's a five star place, which here mostly means it's well-kept and newly done out. Everything's clean and works. There's underfloor heating and a woodburner, so you're never cold. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, all that stuff. Bedding and towels are included. One well-behaved dog is allowed.

You can walk straight out onto the farm lanes. It's quiet. In about fifteen minutes you can walk to the beach at Wherrytown. Penzance town centre is maybe a twenty minute walk, or five minutes in the car. Everything's there: shops, the train station, the ferry to the Scillies.

You're in a good spot for getting about. St Michael's Mount is about ten minutes away by car. Mousehole is maybe fifteen. Lands End and the Minack Theatre are about half an hour's drive. For a big day out, St Ives is twenty-five minutes one way, and you can get to the north coast spots like St Agnes or Porthtowan in about half an hour too.
