Hen Joppa
Hen Joppa is on the harbour in Newlyn. It's a terraced cottage right on the water. The main thing is the view. It looks straight out over the harbour and across to St Michael's Mount.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. The layout is upside down, so the living area is upstairs to get the view. The stairs are normal inside stairs.
There's a roof terrace with sunbeds. You can see all the fishing boats coming and going. There's also a small balcony off the kitchen upstairs. You can sit there with a coffee.
One of the bedrooms is at the back, behind a bookcase door. It's a quirk of the place. The floors are heated in the bathrooms. There's a washing machine and dryer in a cupboard under the stairs.
You don't really need a car. There's a pub a few doors down. The town centre of Penzance is about a ten minute walk along the promenade. Newlyn itself has shops, cafes, and a few art galleries.
You can walk to Mousehole along the coast path in about twenty minutes. For a longer walk, you can go the other way to Marazion and St Michael's Mount.
If you drive, St Ives is about twenty minutes. The Minack Theatre and Porthcurno Beach are about fifteen minutes south. For a bigger day out, the National Trust's Trengwainton Garden is just outside Penzance.
Facilities: parking for one car on site, WiFi included, bedding and towels are provided. There's a stairgate. We accept one well-behaved dog.
