Awel Deg

Awel Deg is in Arthog, right on the edge of the Snowdonia National Park. It's a modern house built to make the most of the view. It looks directly out over the Mawddach estuary and the mountains. That's really the main thing about it.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both downstairs. They each have their own bathroom. Both beds are kingsize, but one can be made into twins if you ask beforehand.

The living area is upstairs. That's deliberate, so you get the best view. The whole wall is windows. The kitchen is in that space too. It's got a dishwasher and a washing machine. There's fibre broadband.

You can park one car right outside. There's an electric vehicle charger. If you have more than one car, there's extra parking a short walk away on the lane opposite.

You can bring one dog. The garden isn't fully enclosed, so you'd need to keep it on a lead out there.

From the door, you can walk straight onto the Mawddach Trail. That's a flat path along the estuary. You can walk over the railway bridge to Barmouth. The path up to the Arthog Waterfalls and Cregennan Lakes starts just behind the house.

Dolgellau is about a ten minute drive. It's a proper Welsh market town with shops, pubs and cafes. There's a farmers' market. Barmouth is the other way, maybe fifteen minutes by car, or you can walk it in about an hour via the bridge.

For a big day out, Cadair Idris is a twenty minute drive to start the walk. The beach at Aberdyfi is twenty five minutes. Harlech Castle is about forty minutes. If you're here for the coast or the mountains, you're in a good spot for both.
