Gors Y Gader
This is Gors Y Gader, just outside Dolgellau in North Wales. It sits right at the bottom of Cadair Idris, the big mountain you'll see straight out the front. It's a semi-detached bungalow.
It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's comfortable and clean, not luxurious. Being a bungalow, everything's on one level except for two steps down to the sunroom. That's useful for less mobile people or if you've got a pushchair. The garden is a good size, mostly lawn, with that view of the mountain.
Dolgellau is the nearest town, about a ten minute drive. It's a proper Welsh market town with slate streets and some good pubs and cafes. There's a decent Co-op there for groceries. The cottage itself is down a quiet lane, so it's very peaceful.
You're in a good spot here. The Mawddach Estuary is a few minutes away by car, it's a beautiful stretch of water for a flat walk or a cycle along the old railway line. For the mountain, you can drive to the foot of Cadair Idris in about five minutes to start a walk. If you don't fancy that, there are plenty of lower level walks from the door.
Within half an hour you can get to Barmouth for the beach, or the Fairbourne railway. Harlech Castle is about 40 minutes south. For a big day out, Snowdon is an hour's drive north.
Inside, it's as described. The living room is L-shaped and leads into a small sunroom. The kitchen has a table. It's all fairly straightforward. The facilities are what you'd expect: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding is included. There's parking for two cars on the drive. You can bring up to two dogs.
