Orchid
The Orchid is a house on the Woodland Retreat resort near Burlawn. It's a modern, three-storey house, one of many on the site, so if you want complete solitude it's not that. It's clean and well looked after. You get a private terrace out the back off the living room.
It sleeps six in three bedrooms, and each bedroom has its own bathroom, which is useful. The main one is quite something, with a sauna and a big shower. That bathroom has a small balcony with a couple of chairs.
The living area is open plan, kitchen, dining, sofa space. There's an electric fire on the wall for effect. It's all on one level which is good if stairs are tricky for someone.
The resort has pools, a gym, tennis courts and a play area. It's all there if you want it. It's a two-minute walk from the house. The house looks out over a small lake.
For the beach, you're inland a bit. It's about a thirty minute drive to Newquay or Padstow. Traffic can be heavy in summer so factor that in.
Things you might want to know: bed linen is included. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. Parking is right outside. No pets allowed. The place is rated 4 Star.
