Turneys Cottage is down a quiet lane just outside Bodmin. It's a one bedroom place, so it's just for two people. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean.
The cottage is set around a courtyard. There are chickens wandering about, which I like.
The main bedroom is upstairs. The stairs are fairly steep, just so you know. Everything you'd need is here: washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking right outside.
You're allowed to bring two dogs. The garden is enclosed, which is handy for that.
There's a pub about half a mile down the road. It's a proper local. For shops, you'd need to drive into Bodmin, which is only a few minutes.
You can walk to the Bodmin and Wenford Steam Railway station from here. It's a nice thing to do on a day you don't want to drive. From Bodmin Parkway station, you can walk up to Lanhydrock House. It's a big National Trust place with good gardens.
The Camel Trail starts nearby. It's a flat path on an old railway line, good for walking or cycling. You can follow it down towards Wadebridge and Padstow.
Cornwall's a driving place, really. You're about half an hour from the north coast: Tintagel, Boscastle, Port Isaac. Padstow is about thirty minutes too. On the south coast, Fowey is roughly the same drive.
The Eden Project is about twenty minutes away. Bodmin Moor is even closer, maybe ten minutes. Good for a walk up Rough Tor if you like that sort of thing.
