Accessed through White Horse Yard on cobbled Church Street, the most popular area in Whitby due to its character, it is like stepping back in time.
Independent shops, eateries and traditional pubs line the cobbles, and the famous swing bridge is just a few steps away, yet you benefit from being tucked away above the bustling crowds. A stone flight of steps leads you up through the yard, with Voyager’s View up at the top. The garden has an elevated patio where you can bask in the sun, as well as an outdoor table and chairs for dining al fresco. Stepping inside you are welcomed into a unique open plan living area, with a flagstone floor. On one side you have the cosy living area with a sofa and armchairs around the electric stove. On the other side you have the stylish granite topped kitchen. Although quaint in size, the layout has ensured that the space has been maximised. On the first floor you have a beautifully presented kingsize bedroom complete with an en-suite shower behind sliding double mirrored doors. There is also the main shower room, with a walk-in rainforest shower. Up to the second floor you have the second kingsize bedroom, where you wake up to the most incredible views from the huge dormer window, right over the town. You can watch boats traveling along the upper harbour as well as steam trains on their way into town, the perfect spot to watch the world go by. Voyagers’ View is ideally positioned for guests looking to soak up the atmosphere here in the heart of Whitby. Further along the cobbles you have the famous 199 steps up to the abbey as well as the sandy Tate Hill Beach.
Further afield is the walled city of York with its Jorvik Viking Centre, the National Railway Museum, minster and a myriad of shops and bars, all within the city walls. As the property is located in a historic part of the town the cobbled road has no on road parking and the yard cannot be accessed by a car. However, there are places nearby where you can pull up to unload – ideally in an evening as this area can get very busy during the day. There is free on street parking around a 10-minute walk away, as well as pay and display parking.
