The Old Mill
The Old Mill is a stone building from the 1800s, converted from a farm mill. It's detached. The water wheel is still there on the outside. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-fitted.
It sleeps four people in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. The living space is open plan downstairs. It has underfloor heating and a woodburning stove for cooler nights.
The location is about two miles outside Rothbury, up a single-track lane. It's quiet. You're inside the Northumberland National Park, with the Simonside Hills right behind you. The view from the kitchen window is just fields and hills.
There's a footpath right outside the gate that leads up into the forestry and crags. You can walk for hours from the door. Stargazing is very good here as there's little light pollution. It's part of the Dark Sky Park.
Rothbury has shops, pubs and cafes. It's a small town. For a bigger day out, Cragside Estate is about ten minutes' drive. Alnwick Castle is roughly half an hour. The coast at Alnmouth is also about thirty minutes away.
Facilities include a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi and TV. Bedding and towels are provided. There's a cot and stairgate if needed. Parking is on site. There's an electric car charger which runs on a meter. No pets, sorry.
