The Old Mill is a detached stone building on a farm near Rothbury. It used to be a working water mill, and the water wheel is still there. It's two hundred years old, so it's got its own character.
It sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well looked after.
You should know the stairs inside are wooden and spiral. They're steep and a bit narrow. Some people find them tricky.
It faces south-west so you get the sun in the afternoons. You can sit outside and look up at Simonside Hill. The footpath up into the hills starts right from the gate. It's good walking country straight from the door.
Rothbury is about two miles down the lane. It's got a few shops, cafes, and pubs. There's a river walk there that's nice for an evening.
The place is right in the Northumberland National Park. It's also in a Dark Sky Park, so if it's a clear night, the stars are very good. No streetlights.
For days out, Cragside Estate is ten minutes away by car. That's a National Trust place with lakes and woods. Alnwick Castle is about half an hour's drive. If you want the coast, Alnmouth or Craster are roughly thirty minutes.
Inside, it's open plan downstairs with a wood burner. We provide the wood. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and a stairgate if you need them.
There's parking for two cars right outside. There's also an electric car charger. You pay for what you use on a meter next to it.
