Greenyard Cottage is on our small farm just outside Rothbury. It's a one-bedroom cottage, sleeps two. The building is old, 1830s I think. It's been done up inside but you can tell it's old. There are beams, and a stone fireplace with a wood burner.
The main thing is the garden. It's south facing, so it gets the sun. You sit out there and look over the fields. We've got some traditional breed cattle and sheep, and a few goats. If the chickens are laying, we'll leave some eggs for you.
It's a 4 Star place. That means it's comfortable and everything works, but it's not a show home. The bathroom has a shower. There's a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, and parking right outside.
The local pub is about a mile down the lane. It serves food. The nearest shop is in Rothbury, about two miles.
You're well placed here for getting out. Rothbury itself is a nice market town, about ten minutes by car. The coast is half an hour away, places like Alnmouth or Druridge Bay. For walks, you're right on the edge of the Northumberland National Park.
There are a couple of big National Trust houses nearby. Cragside is closest, just outside Rothbury. The rhododendrons there are something else in early summer. Wallington is about a twenty-five minute drive south.
Alnwick Castle is maybe twenty-five minutes east. Newcastle is about forty-five minutes if you want a city day. Further west, you've got Kielder Water and the dark sky park, which is about an hour's drive.
