Greenyard Cottage is in Wingates, near Rothbury. It's on our farm, just down from the house, set back from the lane.
It's pretty big for a one-bedroom place, sleeps two. It's an old farm cottage from the 1830s. We've updated it, but you still get the old beams and a stone fireplace with a wood burner. It gets cold up here, so that's useful.
The stairs are in the cottage description for a reason. They're steep, and a bit narrow. Just so you know.
The best bit is the garden. It faces south, gets the sun most of the day, and looks out over the fields. We put a couple of chairs out there.
It's quiet. There's a pub about a mile down the road in Great Whittington, and a shop a couple of miles away in Rothbury. The coast is about 13 miles. Alnwick with the castle is 15 miles.
You're well placed here for getting out. Cragside is a short drive, and so is Wallington. Both National Trust. The Northumberland coast path is easy to get to. Kielder Water and the dark sky park is about 45 minutes by car. Newcastle is about half an hour if you need a city.
It's got a 4 Star rating. That means it's comfortable and has what you need. There's parking right outside, a dishwasher, WiFi, and the bedding and towels are provided. No pets, sorry.
