The Oid Stables

The Old Stables is in Whitton, just outside Rothbury in Northumberland. It’s a converted stable, all on one level. Sleeps four, in two bedrooms. There's one bathroom. It has a 4 Star rating, which means it's been renovated to a good standard.

The main thing is it's flat inside, so that's good if stairs are a problem. It has wheelchair access through the entrance, but you’d need to check the overall layout suits your needs. There's a wood burning stove, which works well. The place is straightforward: washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV. Bedding and towels are included. Parking is right there.

You can walk into Rothbury in about fifteen minutes. It’s a small market town with pubs, cafes, and a good butcher. The river Coquet runs through it, nice for a gentle walk. For proper walking, the Simonside Hills are right there.

Cragside is very close. It's a National Trust house with massive gardens and all sorts of odd Victorian gadgets. Worth a visit. National Trust Cragside.

You're well placed for other trips. Alnwick with its castle and gardens is about half an hour's drive. The Northumberland coast, like Alnmouth or Bamburgh, is under forty minutes. Northumberland National Park and Kielder Water are also within easy reach for a day out.

You can bring up to two dogs. We provide a cot and highchair if you need them.
