Alt-Na-Craig is in Rothbury. It's up the hill a bit, but you can walk into the town centre in about ten minutes.
The cottage sleeps five. Three bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and recently decorated. The main room has a big sofa and a gas fire. There's a sunroom at the back that leads out to a small, enclosed yard. It gets the sun in the evening.
The stairs are a typical cottage staircase. They turn a corner and are a bit steeper than modern ones.
You're right on the edge of the Northumberland National Park here. For a walk from the door, you can go along the river Coquet. The path is flat and easy. If you want something bigger, the Simonside Hills are right there.
The main thing to see is Cragside. It's a National Trust house with massive gardens and lakes, just on the other side of town. You need to book. National Trust Cragside.
Kielder Water is about a half hour drive. The road around the reservoir is very good for views. It's known for stargazing if you're here on a clear night.
Alnwick is 12 miles away for the castle and the bookshop. The coast, like Alnmouth or Craster, is within 30 minutes by car.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and bedding is included. The parking is on the street outside. There's one step up to the front door, but the entrance and the ground floor are all level once you're in. No pets please.
